Osteopathy
Osteopathy is an advanced form of manual therapy discovered by Andrew Taylor Still in 1874. It is based in anatomy and structure and involves precise palpation and assessment. It involves looking at all the systems and structures within the body to determine the root cause of pain or dysfunction. Osteopathy holds the belief that the body has the ability to heal itself but sometimes needs to be “unblocked” to start the healing process.
The osteopath is able to improve position, mobility and function of the tissues that are most limited with hands on techniques. Often people come for pain related issues, but patients find that many other health issues can be resolved with osteopathy because of the whole body approach.
